A major seasonal sale brings back the same names every year: GOYOJO, HABOTEST, TOOLTOP, BSIDE, Noyafa. Brands most professional thermographers have never encountered, sold by the thousands at prices ranging from $25 to $280, with customer reviews all hovering around 4.7 stars.
Sales volume isn't a technical spec. So we applied the same method to five of these devices as we do to the rest of this catalog: find the actual datasheet, check what it says, and cross-check sources against each other where possible.
The same sensor, three ways of presenting it
The clearest finding involves three devices from three different brands: the GOYOJO GW192A, the HABOTEST HT821A, and the TOOLTOP T3. All three share a 50° field of view, an almost identical measurement range, and above all a native sensor of 96 × 96 pixels, i.e. 9,216 real measurement points. This is very likely the same electronic component, bought from the same supplier and resold under three separate commercial identities, a phenomenon already documented in our article on manufacturer discrepancies regarding the Thermal Master P2 Pro and the InfiRay P2 Pro.
What changes entirely is how each brand talks about this sensor.

The GOYOJO case: a resolution confirmed false, by a buyer
On the GW192A's datasheet, at the manufacturer and at every retailer we checked, it reads "192 × 192 IR Resolution". No mention of any image processing, no line distinguishing a native sensor from a calculated result.
This time, it wasn't our own recalculation that uncovered the discrepancy. It was a buyer, in a verified marketplace review, who tested the device and reports that the real resolution is 96 × 96, with this blunt comment: AI upscaling doesn't make up for missing hardware.
It's the only device in our entire catalog where the resolution gap is confirmed neither by the manufacturer nor by a professional retailer, but solely by an independent user report. We flag it with that specific caveat.
The HABOTEST and TOOLTOP case: the same technique, openly disclosed
On the HT821A's datasheet, HABOTEST literally states that its super-resolution technology brings the sensor from 96 × 96 up to 240 × 240. On the T3's, TOOLTOP goes further and names both values on two separate, clearly labeled lines: infrared sensor resolution on one side, image enhancement on the other.
That's exactly the distinction missing at GOYOJO. The underlying technique is probably identical across all three devices. What differs is the decision to disclose it or stay silent.
The same brand, two faces: the TOOLTOP case
TOOLTOP deserves its own paragraph, because the brand sells both the T3, on the already described 96 × 96 sensor, and the T7, an entirely different device with a genuine 256 × 192 sensor claiming no interpolation at all — twenty-eight times more real measurement points.
The lesson is direct: an unknown consumer brand is neither good nor bad as a whole. Judgment has to be made model by model, never by a brand's overall reputation, especially in this price segment, where the same label can sell an honest device and an inflated one under two neighboring model numbers.
The T7 holds another, rarer surprise: its own datasheet warns that a one-to-three-second recalibration pause occurs every ten seconds, and states that this is a normal phenomenon. Few brands, even well-established ones, state their own device's limitations this clearly.
BSIDE: a category this comparator hadn't encountered yet
The BSIDE SH7 is neither a module nor a typical standalone camera: it's a full electrical multimeter, with its 20,000-count range and TRMS function, fused with a 320 × 320 thermal sensor in the same housing. For an electrician who already uses a multimeter daily, the proposition changes: no need for a second, separate tool for an initial thermal check before reaching for the multimeter.
The SH9, an upgraded version of the same line, adds genuine fusion between a visible channel and a thermal channel. But its datasheet advertises a resolution of 428 × 320 without ever specifying whether that figure refers to the thermal sensor alone or to the result of fusing it with the visible channel. We flag it as-is rather than guessing: it's a point to verify before trusting that value.
A welcome counterexample: when "super resolution" doesn't lie
Not every manufacturer in this segment behaves the same way. The Mileseey TR10 is marketed as a "Super Resolution 192 × 192", a label that, after everything above, might reasonably raise concern. But its official datasheet resolves the ambiguity directly: "Thermal Resolution 192 × 192" is indeed the sensor's own resolution, with a separate line for the display resolution at 240 × 240. The word "super" here describes the physical sensor's own market position, not a figure inflated by calculation. Checking the full datasheet is enough to rule out any suspicion.
Another reason not to jump to conclusions about an entire price segment being built on deception: the FNIRSI TDM-120P, a thermal camera fused with a full electrical multimeter, publishes a datasheet as complete as those of far pricier professional devices already covered in this comparator, with NETD, field of view, and detector material clearly stated. It joins the already-documented BSIDE SH7 in this same hybrid niche, a product category that didn't exist in our catalog before this investigation.
What to remember before buying in this segment
An advertised resolution with no mention of image processing deserves extra research before buying, especially when the figure seems high for the price. A quick look at customer reviews, searching for words like "real resolution" or "native", is sometimes enough to find what the official datasheet doesn't say.
Sales volume and average rating tell you nothing about the quality of the technical specs. They measure the general satisfaction of buyers who, for the most part, have no professional device to compare against.
And an unknown brand isn't a flaw in itself. The TOOLTOP T7 documented in this article has a more complete and more honest datasheet than some well-established brands already covered in this comparison. The only criterion that matters is the one we apply to every product page on this site: what the document says, and what it doesn't.
